Production capacities for flash memory have increased as demand for mobile devices keeps growing. Memory manufacturers such as Samsung, Hynix, and Micron now produce up to 80% flash memory and only 20% RAM.
This is not just due to increased sales but also due to a doubling of the storage capacity of devices. The increase from 64GB to 128GB of flash memory means a doubling of the required flash memory, even if mobile system sales remain steady.
Shifting production capacity from DRAM to FLASH technologies is causing a shortage in DRAM-based memory, resulting in steadily rising prices since June 2016.
The trend continues, with manufacturers already announcing further price increases until the first quarter of 2017. This applies especially to DDR4 memory from SO-DIMM to server RAM, as well as DDR3 server memory, DDR3 UDIMM, and DDR3 SO-DIMM. Through a variety of contacts with manufacturers and distributors, we can offer an attractive price compared to the market price, as we can often rely on inexpensive stockpiles.
