DDR3 UDIMM (Non-ECC unbuffered) - Standard-RAM
The DDR3 UDIMM (Non-ECC unbuffered) RAM memory modules offered here have been manufactured according to the JEDEC standard. These are standard RAM modules that have not been specifically tested or approved for any particular device. In the vast majority of cases, these modules work flawlessly as long as the technical specifications match.
Technical Differences: What to Consider When Purchasing
When purchasing standard UDIMM (Non-ECC unbuffered) modules, not only the capacity (GB) and speed are important, but also the internal organizational characteristics that determine whether the memory will be recognized by your system:
- Single-Rank (1R) vs. Dual-Rank (2R): This specification describes how the memory chips are distributed on the module. Some systems only support a specific rank type or require it when multiple slots are populated.
- Memory Organization & Bit Width: The internal configuration of the chips (e.g. x8 or x16) affects whether the module works reliably with the processor generation installed in the device.
- Error Correction (ECC vs. Non-ECC): Depending on the system architecture, devices require either standard memory (Non-ECC) or modules with integrated error correction (ECC), which are mostly used in servers or specialized NAS environments.
- Operating Voltage (DDR3 vs. DDR3L): Make sure to check the required voltage of your device. Standard DDR3 memory operates at 1.5 volts, while the energy-efficient DDR3L variant runs at 1.35 volts. Since many notebooks and processor generations specifically require the low-voltage DDR3L version, systems often fail to boot if the wrong voltage is used.
Technical Specifications Overview (JEDEC Standard)
The following matrix shows the typical combinations and structural differences of the available DDR3 RAM modules:
Module Size (Capacity) | Rank Organization (Typical) | Memory Type |
Small Capacities | Single-Rank (1Rx8, 1Rx16) Dual-Rank (2Rx8) | UDIMM / ECC SO-DIMM / ECC RDIMM |
Medium Capacities | Dual-Rank (2Rx4, 2Rx8) | UDIMM |
High Capacities | Dual-Rank (2Rx4, 2Rx8) Quad-Rank (4Rx4) | RDIMM LRDIMM |
Important Compatibility Notice
The memory modules offered here are sold as standard RAM without official certification for specific devices. Therefore, we cannot guarantee compatibility or flawless operation in a particular system.
Please make sure to compare the technical specifications of the memory module with the requirements of your system or motherboard before purchasing. This information can usually be found in the device manual or on the manufacturer's website.
If you are unsure which memory module is suitable for your system, we recommend using our device full-text search or contacting our memory support hotline. This way, you can quickly find the right RAM for your system.
